Thrifty Decor Chick Christmas home tour!

OH my goodness! I mentioned the other day that the past couple weeks have been crazy around here -- I'm scratching that and making that the past three weeks. ;) I haven't done a holiday tour on the blog for a while because it's so much work in such a short amount of time, but I have to admit it's pretty awesome to be completely done with everything! 

Usually I'm messing around with the decor till right before Christmas and I think this is the first time ever (at least while blogging) that I'm done so early. Yes, I consider the 9th early. 😂 I'm so stoked to be able to just sit back and enjoy it all now! 

I'm joining in with an incredible group of bloggers to share our Christmas homes with you this week -- I hope you'll check them all out at the bottom of the post today! I am so impressed with their beautiful homes and I know you will be too. 

For now, I'm just going to share the meeeellions of photos I took and won't say much. I'll link to certain projects and rooms under the photos. I have to first say how thankful I am for your kind comments on our stone fireplace I shared earlier this week:

I told you our tree was a beast!! It's a workout to get it decorated but I do love it when it's done! I have big plans for these walls next year...I've been planning this project for years and I'm putting it on my list for 2017!

I've been leaning towards a combo of red and brown over the years and this time I went all out on the main tree -- only those two colors and I ADORE it. I bought some faux fur and just threw it under the tree as a skirt:

I added a few Christmas touches to the office/craft room I finished up a few months ago:

I grabbed gold ribbon and just tied it on the branches. Pictures don't do it justice -- it's so pretty on the white tree!

The dining room turned library got a few touches -- overall I scaled back yet again this year. The older I get the less stuff I want to put out. I'm on track to get rid of at least one more large storage bin this year. ;) 

I've found the trees and adding greenery and touches of color with ornaments make a room feel plenty festive!

And of course the kitchen...I love decorating this room! I went all out last year but toned it down a bit this year. I think the simple wreaths in the window seat are my favorite:

Well hello! I have a BIG reveal for you today! I worked so hard on this basement fireplace and I'm so so SO thrilled it's done. I'm excited to share it with you today! I took a ridiculous amount of photos so bear with me. :)  I'll show you where we started first! We have this little bump out in our basement and from day one we knew what we wanted to do with it. The bright and light mudroom makeover is complete!

As many of you know, it can take me eons to finish up a room makeover. It's usually because of two things -- we pay cash for everything so I only make updates as the budget allows. And since I try to do most of it myself, it just takes longer than it would if I hired out. I don't mind this usually because I think I make better decisions when I take my time.  I'll take even longer if it's a room we don't use often (like our guest room) or one that we use mostly (and guests don't see) so I'm not as concerned about it getting finished up quickly. I've been working on our mudroom for more than three years now -- well, even longer than that if you consider all of our changes -- but I've been making updates for a few years to get it the way I want it.  And it's FINALLY DONE. Whoot! You may have seen the most dramatic changes I shared last fall, but I wasn't calling it done till we got the storage shelf built and finished up. Now it's finished...

AFTER the Konmari Purge (I'm DONE)

It's done! I've officially Konmari'd the crap  out of our house. This is a very, very good day and a long time coming -- I'm so happy to be done!  It took NINE MONTHS. I did finish a kitchen renovation in that time, but still, nine months . I started reading the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up last August:   I talked about how it started to change my mindset  here -- this book has totally changed my life. I thought I was good at letting go of things, but after reading this I realized I really wasn't good at all.  I still had this inexplicable thing holding me back from truly getting rid of all the crap. My mindset before was...I bought it to redo it, I bought it on sale, I spent a lot of money on it, someone gave it to me, someday when I finish ____ this item will be good there, it needs to be fixed and then we can use it, someday this might be back in style, I made this myself, if I can find the cord that charges it I'll be able to use it, it may ...
