The lazy person's guide to painting furniture

Hey there! I've been thinking a lot about projects I want to finish up before the end of the year -- especially those that I promised myself I would finish up. One is our guest room and I only have a couple more projects to do that I've put off for months!  I finally bit the bullet on a bigger one the other day. I decided I was going do it in the quickest and easiest way possible because sometimes you just want to get it done . This is a tutorial on the fastest way to paint furniture for when you're feeling the same. :)  I told you about these inexpensive IKEA dresser/night stands a few months ago:  I also shared some of the many ways you can dress them up. The possibilities are endless with these unfinished pieces! For now I didn't have any grand plans in mind -- I just wanted to get them painted. I may add to them later but I actually a little in love with how they turned out.  In general I'm not one to say you need to do things perfectly when it comes to DIY pr

Awesome before and after projects (and link up your own!)

Hello all! Guess what?! It's the first Monday of the month and I remembered that it's the day of the Before and After Link Up! I haven't been great at getting this up on time the past few nine months so this is a big deal for me. I'm getting old. ;) As always, I show off some of the awesome projects linked up from last month first. I was blown away by April's pretty kitchen makeover !: SO lovely! I love all of her little details in this space -- those lights and the chairs are my favorites. If you are considering a kitchen makeover but the cost of new countertops is too much, you need to check out Jennifer's post on how to build your own laminate counters : Laminate has come such a long way! Doesn't that look like soap stone? She shares a great tutorial on how to do this project -- it's a fraction of the cost of buying them ready-made.  Jenny shared a couple more awesome kitchen makeovers -- if you remember she's the one who came over and taught m

My favorite recent projects and posts!

Well hello! Hope you have a wonderful weekend planned! I'm back with another round up of posts from the past few months today. I used to do this monthly but I don't remember to do it most of the time -- so now you get them in batches of two or three months. ;) It's always nice to look back and what I've accomplished around here and it may show you something you've missed! I finished up our loft makeover at the end of the summer -- I shared how I made the giant chalkboard for this space: This is a room that's meant for the whole family so I wanted to make it a fun space. We created a Disney art wall that we'll add to over time. We are going back to Disney World soon and I can't wait to add new memories to this wall!: You can see how we made that Disney pin art in that post as well!  I showed you how I made the large desk with butcher block and how I finished it here :  I also shared my new favorite sanding technique in that post -- it is a SUPER cool tr
