A Spring Display (I'm So Ready!)

Hello all! I don't know about you but I'm SO excited for spring to arrive! Our weather was wonderful this weekend and after this week I think we're home free -- let's hope anyway. It wasn't even that bad of a winter but I'm so ready to open up the windows again!

Of course the warmer weather has me wanting to freshen the whole house. I know a lot of you feel that way this time of year too. I haven't really wanted to decorate for spring specifically much in the past couple of years but for some reason I'm really into it this year.

A few weeks ago I picked up a new console for our foyer and that was the perfect spot to decorate for the upcoming season. It's nice to put away the paint brushes and nail gun and just putter around the house moving things around, just decorating. I love it.

I don't have a great picture of the dresser we had in the entry before, but this shot from when I made the half wall bookcase shows you what was there:
It is a beautiful dresser, but it was way too deep for this spot. The one that was there before was perfect but now it's on the other side of this room:

So as I was out and about I would look for the perfect piece -- but I didn't find anything till a few weeks ago. I LOVED it as soon as I saw it:

The design on the front is beautiful, and it has mirrors everywhere -- the front, sides and top. It really is so pretty. It had a chunk out of a leg so I was able to get a discount on it, and turns out I had a sample of paint that matched it nearly perfectly. You can't even see where the damage was. :)

It sat mostly empty until inspiration struck for some accessories on top. That inspiration was in the form of the beautiful free printables Kellie shared last week:

Oh my goodness! I love them! I printed them out at home on textured card stock (I try to keep a supply for printables) and they are just gorgeous. I always love what she creates.

I added a few other items from around the house -- the plant and a little urn filled with moss covered eggs bring in some green. I had been eyeing the decorative wood stands from Target for months and finally grabbed those. They will work anywhere!:

I've had the glass lamp and shade for years and the mirror has been there forever too. I'd like something different as far as that goes but want to be careful to not go too busy. The console is plenty.

It is such a lovely little display -- so fresh and pretty! I seriously can't wait for spring to arrive!:
Spring decorating in foyer

If you've been around for awhile you know I'm a sucker for blue. The color I said I would never use years and years ago. Ha! I absolutely love it. I think it's a perfect accent and it works well with so many other colors as well:

Also? Adding the glass storm door was one of the best additions ever to this house. The natural light streaming into the entry on a nice day makes me so happy.

I still have plans to pull up that tile and extend our hardwoods into the foyer a bit more, but I'm not sure when it will happen. Thinking about the potential mess pushes that project back every year. ;)

Oh well. Someday. I'll focus on the pretty parts for now:

Isn't that console beautiful? I'm glad I waited till I found what I loved to fill that spot. The black dresser now sits in the guest room where it is perfect.

Do you decorate for spring every year? I don't know why I'm itching to do it this year but I'm having fun with it. I hope to share a spring tour with you soon, it's been awhile!

The bathroom renovation has started!

It's been awhile since I've gotten down and dirty with a DIY project and I jumped back in big time with this one! It was SO fun! :)  My whole family thinks I'm nuts by the way. Husband came home from a business trip and son came home from school to this happening...they know by now to expect this.  I've talked about the changes I've wanted to make in our son's bathroom for years now. I mentioned in January that THIS was the year we were going to make it happen. My plan was to add a window in the back room first, and then determine if I wanted to take the wall down: But I knew all along I wanted to take it down...I hate it. Loathe. So yesterday I got a wild hair and did just that. Sometimes I'll sit on a project forever until I just bite the bullet and just jump in. I knew I could make some progress on this room and still have it function, so I went for it.  And man, was it fun! And messy! I loved it. :)  I knew there was some electrical in the wall, but

EASY, inexpensive and beautiful DIY spring wreath!

These are my favorite kinds of projects/posts my friends! Quick DIYs that are easy to replicate and aren't going to break the bank. This one is especially easy!  I found this tulip wreath and fell. in. LOVE with it:  But the price? Seventy dollars?? 😳 It's gorgeous but I knew I could make my own.  I gathered my supplies -- this grapevine wreath I had already. I recommend grabbing one when they're on sale (I believe this one was $5 after half off). I love these because they're SO easy to stuff with seasonal items: Then I went to Hobby Lobby because their fake flowers were half off. I grabbed way more than I needed just in case (they're usually half off every other week so I wanted to make sure I had enough):  So pretty!  I used my wire cutting pliers and started cutting the stems off the bunches:  Then you just stuff them in! It really is so easy. Just place them where you want.  I thought it looked pretty with just a couple bunches on there: But I wanted a fuller

A Mediocre Life?

I read something a few weeks ago that really spoke to me -- it was one of those articles that makes you nod your head and yell "HECK YEAH!" as you read it.  It's called What if All I Want is a Mediocre Life and you can find it here -- it's a fast read and I'll wait while you go take a look. ;)  My only hesitation with the post is the use of the word mediocre. I could not agree more with everything she said, and it describes my outlook on life well. But my life is anything but mediocre. The definition of that word is "of only moderate quality, not very good." My life and what I do with it is anything but.  I have a content life. Replace "mediocre" with "content" and I'm on board.  I am not a woman of extremes, I do not always strive to be the best I can be. I do not tackle each day with intensity. I wake up and realize I get to do what I love -- be with my family, work on my home, visit with friends and write to you all. And I fin
